Nick and a Blue Iguana on Grand Cayman Island
In 2014, during a trip to Grand Cayman, I had the opportunity to spend time with one of the island's rare Blue Iguanas.
At the time, it was simply an unforgettable encounter with one of nature's most remarkable creatures.
I had no idea that years later, it would inspire the name of a company.
There was something about the Blue Iguana that stayed with me.
It wasn't just its striking color.
It was its individuality.
Its quiet confidence.
Its connection to the natural world.
Those qualities would eventually become the foundation for a brand built around craftsmanship, natural materials, and products designed to stand apart.
When it came time to name the company, there was never really another choice.
Fast forward to 2018.
The memory of that incredible Blue Iguana had never really left me.
When it came time to build a company around quality, craftsmanship, and a love for natural materials, the name was already there.
Blue Iguana was born.
The original vision was simple: create premium products that were different from everything else on the market.
The journey began with sustainable bamboo and organic cotton apparel, inspired by the same appreciation for nature that first drew me to the Blue Iguana years earlier.
Like many small businesses, it started with one product, one market, and one customer at a time.
The Markets Became the Classroom
There wasn't a business plan that had all the answers.
There were 5 years Saturday mornings before sunrise heading out to The Ybor Saturday Market.
Long days setting up tents.
Conversations with thousands of customers.
Every question, every compliment, and every suggestion became part of the next version of Blue Iguana.
The products evolved because the customers helped shape them.
As Blue Iguana grew, so did the vision.
The introduction of handcrafted wood watches changed everything.
Customers loved the warmth of natural wood, the uniqueness of every grain, and the idea that no two watches were exactly alike.
It wasn't just another product.
It became the beginning of a new direction for Blue Iguana.
From Local Markets to Resorts & Cruise Ships.
What started beneath a small market tent slowly grew into something much bigger.
As the products evolved and the brand matured, new opportunities began to appear.
Blue Iguana expanded from local markets into resorts, specialty retailers, and nationally recognized hospitality brands. Today, our products can be found in beautiful destinations where people come to relax, explore, and create lasting memories—including cruise ships, resort gift shops, and some of the country's most recognized vacation destinations.
It has been an incredible journey, but in many ways, we're just getting started.
Looking Ahead
The journey continues.
Blue Iguana is constantly evolving—introducing new collections, embracing new technologies, and finding new ways to connect with customers around the world.
